Yusaku Maezawa, a famous 47-year-old Japanese billionaire businessman, announced in 2018 that with the help of Elon Musk’s SpaceX project and with all the money he obtained after working as an online retailer, it’s estimated that he would travel to the moon in 2023 if the date doesn’t get delayed with a crew of 8 artists and 2 backup members. The name of the project is dearMoon.
Recently, he has revealed who these crewmembers are. These artists are Steve Aoki (DJ), Tim Dodd (Youtuber), Yemi A.D. (Artist, Choreographer), Karim Iliya (Photographer), Rhiannon Adam (Photographer), Brendan Hall (Filmmaker), Dev Joshi (Actor), T.O.P. (Rapper), and the backup members are Miyu (Dancer) and Kaitlyn Farrington (Snowboarder). This entire crew was selected thanks to some applications that Yusaku opened in August 2021.
Yusaku already has some experience with space flights because in December of 2021 he flew to the International Space Station on a short journey. However, the travel date still hasn’t been confirmed because the SpaceX's spaceship, which is going to be used for dearMoon, hasn’t got approval from the Federal Aviation Administration.
