Grant Whal, an American journalist, died on December 10. It was believed that it was a homophobic attack because he wore a rainbow picture on his shirt, since apparently on previous occasions the Qatari authorities warned him for that reason, but finally, after performing the autopsy and obtaining the results, his wife, Celine Gounder, revealed that it was not any type of aggression attack, but an aortic aneurysm which ended his life.
Nonetheless, the workers on Qatar worked on really bad conditions and there are rumors that say that some of the constructors of the stadiums died because they worked under poor conditions and a bad security system.
