Host: Good morning to everyone! Today's a really special day; we have the honor of interviewing the prestigious tennis player Roger Federer. Good morning, Roger.
Roger: Good morning.
Host: For anyone who isn't familiar with the world of tennis, Roger is one of the biggest tennis players in the world; he has several trophies, which we'll deal with later, and has played more than 1500 matches. But, after having being playing for more than 24 years, he has decided to retire. Could you do a quick summary about all the trophies you've won during your career?
Roger: Well I've won:
- 20 Grand Slam Titles
- 8 Wimbledon Titles
- 5 US Open Titles
- 6 Australian Crowns
- 1 French Open Title
Host: Oh, that's a lot. Why have you decided to retire from your great career?
Roger: Well, I wanted to continue, but my knee got injured and I realized that it was time to put a stop to my career.
Host: It's really sad that you had to stop your career, but don't worry because it was a really good one. Which was your first trophy?
Roger: My first trophy was a Grand Slam Title, in Wimbledon, I won it in 2003 and I'm still very proud of it.
Host: Not giving up at that moment was a really good decision. You've achieved some world records, can you talk about them?
Roger: I don't really have a lot of knowledge about them but some of them are:
- I've been the best tennis player for 237 weeks.
- I've never retired from an individual or a duo match.
- I've been the oldest man in achieving this record and I've won 41 matches in a row.
Host: Wow! Those are many world records, I'm sure you're really proud of each one of them. When did you start playing tennis?
Roger: I've been playing tennis since I was 8 years old.
Host: That's a lot of time! Well, to finish off this interview, do you want to send a message to the audience?
Roger: Always follow your dreams and never give up.
Host: Thanks for your time and for coming here.
Roger: Thanks for inviting me.
